Warner Glen Estate - Chardonnay - 2008

2008

Winemaker: Bruce Dukes
Viticulturalist: Richard Wilson
Vineyard: Margaret River, Warner Glen Estate
(Richie’s Block Chardonnay)

Varietal: Chardonnay
Alcohol: 13.3 %
Cellaring: Drink now to 2013. Cellaring will be rewarded!
Oak: Fermented and matured for 12 months in French Oak Barriques, 50% New Oak with the balance 2nd and 3rd year oak.

Colour: Pale straw with vibrant citrus hue.

Bouquet: Aromas of citrus, white nectarines and brioche.

Palate: Flavours of peaches, fresh citrus and roast hazelnuts are intermingled with minerality, gentle oak toast, succulent acidity and
generous texture.

Winemaking: Hand picked fruit in the cool of the morning, with whole cluster pressing to emphasise texture. The juice was barrel ferment
and matured, with partial malolactic fermentation chosen in order to optimise fruit expression, texture and freshness.

Vintage: The 2008 Vintage was as close to perfect as is possible with kind warm weather and excellent sunlight exposure over the growing season culminating in a cool early morning harvest capturing the fruit at it’s peak. Yield reduction was employed to intensify fruit flavours and Richie’s Block Chardonnay was harvested on the 3rd of March.
