Varietal: Cabernet (92%) Merlot (8%)
Alcohol: 13.5 %
Cellaring: Drink now to 2018.
Oak: 225 L French, 50 % new for 18 months.
Colour: Polished purple red, with tinges of purple freshness.
Bouquet: Combines supple red current, cassis and mulberry fruits with a hint of mocha.
Palate: Medium bodied, full flavours, with firm resolving tannins, and juicy red fruits ending in lingering harmonious finish.
Winemaking: Classic varieties, gravelly soils, traditional winemaking, and a great year - always an awesome start to life if you are a wine. The Cabernet Sauvignon is fermented on skins for around 12 days, while the Merlot was on skins for 10 days. Each ferment was gently pressed before barrelling down the red-purple fizzy wine. These fermentation techniques result in high-tonned red fruits, soft tannins and full flavours. The separate cuvees are grown separately in French oak barriques for 18 months.
Vintage: The cool ripening conditions of the 2009 vintage produced an outstanding finish to an awesome growing season ensuring plenty of hang time for the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes and therefore finely balanced and flavoursome fruit.
