Verdelho - 2009
This lively, fresh wine has a strong aroma of lime and tropical fruits, true varietal characteristics. The dominant flavour on the front palate is intense lime with a zesty mineral feel, the mid palate continues the lime and introduces pineapple. The finish is long lasting with lingering hints of honey.
Wine makers thoughts
In making this wine I wanted to be able to show the drinker how well this fruit is grown. Verdelho is really easy to get too far away from the beautiful fruit characters and tight acid structure into something that is over blown and alcoholic hot. The balance in the vineyard is great with the fruit being organically grown, just without certification. I wanted to get a bit more complexity into the wine and hence the lees stirring and ageing. I hope you enjoy drinking it as much as I enjoyed crafting it! This wine is made to drink young but with careful cellaring will provide enjoyment for 2 years. Serve chilled with Asian dishes, white meat or very refreshing on its own.
Alcohol: 13.1%
