The Bridge Shiraz - 2005
After a very successful first release of the Shurans Lane Shiraz 2002 (selling out in 3 months), and selling through on allocation in 2003 and 2004 we have great pleasure in presenting the 2005 vintage.
Vintage Overview: The 2005 season was marked by rain events and a long dry Autumn which ensured full ripeness and a chance to push the richness of the vineyard to its maximum. Again the wine was un-modified, supporting the organic approach to the vineyard, winemaking technique and our sustainability. This wine is 100% Shiraz from Heathcote. It is made in a traditional and natural way without modification. Partial wild fermentation and basket pressed before barrel aging for 20 months in French and American oak casks.
Appearance: The wine has great colour; youthful, red purple robe with good depth.
Bouquet : A lifted bouquet with aromas of liquorice and red currants with cedar subtle vanilla notes. Intense and subtle development as the wine sits in a glass.
Palate : Full bodied with blackberry and liquorice notes. This is a youthful palate with great structure and intensity that will become more complex with time.
Comment: The Bridge displays excellent colour and flavour for a wine that did not need the addition of acid, tannin or enzymes. Nor did it require fining or modified in any way, shape or form. The wine was oak matured for 20 months followed by hand bottling and resting for 6 months prior to release. Organic and biodynamic practices in use.
Cellar: For 5 – 15 years from release (June 2009)
