Hastwell & Lightfoot
Hastwell & Lightfoot is a partnership between friends that started in 1988 with the purchase of land in McLaren Vale, and the planting of vineyards. The friends are Mark & Wendy Hastwell and Martin & Jill Lightfoot. Over two decades in business together, they are still firm friends.
Located on the northern deep sand slopes of McLaren Vale, planting has slowly grown to 44 acres and is home to a number of varietals (Chardonnay, Viognier, Cabernet, Shiraz, Cabernet Franc and Tempranillo).
Traditional winemaking techniques are utilised including small open fermenters and a basket press. The sense of partnership between both families reflects the philosophy in their wine making which ultimately leads to the union of wine and food and their belief that “wine is made for eating.”
