New release wines from Amietta Vineyard and Winery

Published: 09/09/2011

We are delighted to announce several ‘new release’ wines from Amietta Vineyard and Winery, located in the Moorabool Valley on the outskirts of Geelong. This winery is an Australian example of a ‘garagiste’ winery in every sense. Their production is tiny however their focus remains on producing exciting wines with varietal and regional definition.

We still have a small amount of their Chardonnay 2009, rated 94/100 by James Halliday. This wine is shows true varietal characters with restraint and poise with fruits of white peach, nectarine and grapefruit. In addition we have some Shiraz Lagrein 2005 (a few cases) and Shiraz Lagrein 2006 (a few more cases) for those who know the attributes of this blend.

New release wines include the following:

  • Riesling 2010 - Biodynamic (first biodynamic release and much anticipated by those who know their Riesling)!
  • Shiraz 2006 - a back release that is drinking beautifully
  • The Italian Job 2009 - a new red blend in the range including Lagrein, Carmenere, the Cabernets and Shiraz

These wines mainly appear on restaurant lists however a few stockists have been able to secure small allocations to sell through. These include: Blackhearts & Sparrows, City Wine Shop, Eaglemont Cellars, Hampton Gate Cellars, Savvy Cellars, Victorian Wine Centre, and, Wine Bank on View.

Should you be tempted I would suggest you source and purchase sooner rather than later.

Cheers Sarah
