Award winning wines paired with food from the Sydney International Wine Competition 2010

Published: 26/03/2010

You may be aware that several of our wines achieved great results at the Sydney International Wine Competition at the end of last year. This competition is the only event in Australia in which wine is rated against food.

One of the main aims of the Competition is to offer consumers independent information to help in their choice of wines more likely to enhance the pleasures of the daily dining experience and, by so doing, to add enjoyment and contentment to their everyday lives.

We announced the success of the following three wines in November 2009:

  • Hastwell & Lightfoot Cabernet Sauvignon 2006, McLaren Vale, SA
  • Lamont Pinot Noir 2006, Central Otago, NZ (also awarded Top 100)
  • Patrick Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2002, Coonawarra, SA (also awarded Top 100)

Interestingly both Cabernet Sauvignon were in the same category (medium dry red) and as such competed against the same dish. We thought it would be appropriate to share the recipe with those who love to cook. And if you would like to replicate the event in entirety please contact met to find out where both Cabernet Sauvignon are stocked so you can sample the wine with the food! The same applies for the Lamont Pinot Noir that was served with a duck dish. The recipe sounds delicious, so delicious in fact that I will use this for my next dinner party, and will follow up with the Beef recipe in winter.
