How often have you struggled for a comfortable and reliable place for a business meeting over food, whether it be breakfast or lunch? The city of Melbourne is teaming with venues, but when efficient service, personable staff and good wholesome food is the criteria then Sally’s Kitchen is the place to head.

My colleague and I have dined there on several occasions (for breakfast and lunch) and have been very pleased with the consistent delivery of value for money meals, interesting wine by the glass / bottle and excellent coffee. Today was no exception.
We arrived at midday to find only a few tables occupied. Matt showed us to a little table for two tucked around a corner, which was perfect for our business lunch. By the time we had each selected a glass of wine (Mitchell Watervale Riesling 2008, Clare Valley; Flynns of Heathcote Viognier 2008) the venue was full and a few customers were waiting for tables to be vacated.
The food menu was located on a blackboard near the kitchen and consisted of a lovely selection of winter fare. Despite my passion for soup I settled upon the rich beef pie with cherry tomato relish and buttered beans. So did my colleague and we were not disappointed. The dish was simple but yummy and fresh and was such good value for money.
By the time we got around to hot drinks (herbal tea served on individual trays with contemporary pot, cup and saucer) the lunch time rush had been and gone (it was 2:30pm) leaving just a few tables occupied by late diners.
My only word of warning on this venue is that if you turn up between 12:30 and 13:00 pm you may find the venue full. You can’t get more of a positive reinforcement than that now can you!
