Over the past 12 months David Hynes has gone about building an approachable, inviting and evolving place to wine, dine, brunch and do lunch. He has also successfully designed and orchestrated several wine degustation events this year (including Get Fig’ed; Quince this Quail that; & How mushroom is too mushroom).

We were invited to provide wine for the quince and quail degustation in April, and so were delighted to be invited to provide wine for ‘Something to Goat about’ that was held last Saturday and Sunday. Two of the Selador Wines team chose to attend the Sunday night event and were presented with the following menu:

Goat charcuterie:

Hand made sausage, Parfait, Riblet, Biltong, Chevre with Der Partisan bread

Mountain Goat, Organic Steam Ale

Confit Goat, onion Tarte tatin, béarnaise

2008 Knots Rose, Bendigo VIC

Braised Goat ravioli, white wine broth, fennel biltong floss, red cabbage

2008 Lamont Pinot Gris, Central Otago NZ

Seven Hills Roulade:

Proscuitto wrapped Goat loin, liver farce, asparagus, Goat jus

2005 Amietta Shiraz, Geelong VIC

Goat pannacotta, berry compote

Milawa Goat cheeseboard: Camembert, Mt Buffalo blue, Capricornica cheddar

The whole evening was one pleasure followed by another and the service side of things appeared seemless. In terms of value for money the wine degustation events held at Provenance Food and Wine consistently over-deliver value for money ($75.00) nights and are definitely worth keeping an eye out for. Thank you to David and the team for another great night!
